Tips for basic cleaning: How to keep your indoor garden clean in the long term

If, despite your monthly maintenance routine, your Everleaf Garden becomes dirty over time or root debris accumulates in the columns, it's time for a thorough cleaning. The buildup of germs and bacteria in your indoor garden can attract pests over time and harm your plants. Therefore, it's crucial to properly clean your Everleaf Garden on a regular basis.

Tip: Delay the need for a reset by consistently caring for your Everleaf Garden monthly, trimming the roots, and using hydrogen peroxide.

What you need to clean your Everleaf Gardens:

  • Bottle brushes in various sizes (at Amazon )
  • Citric acid (alternative: vinegar essence or hydrogen peroxide)

The soft reset

Duration: 40-60 minutes | Intervals: Every 3-6 months (Best when your Everleaf Garden is completely harvested and 24 new plants are to be planted)

  1. Clean the empty plant pots by soaking them in a water bath with dish soap or citric acid.
  2. To clean the plant columns, mix citric acid and water in a 1:2 ratio and pour it into the still dirty water in the water tank. Optionally, you can also pour the same mixture into a spray bottle and spray the inside of the columns. This will help you clean your Everleaf Garden even faster.
  3. Let the pump run for about 5 minutes and then turn it off.
  4. Use the small straw brush to clean the water outlets and the large brush to clean the inside of the plant containers.
  5. Have a bowl or bucket of water with a little citric acid ready to clean the brushes regularly and ensure that no large root debris remains in the containers.
  6. Let the pump run again for at least 5-10 minutes to flush thoroughly.
  7. If individual plant containers are still dirty or have root residues stuck to them, you can use the brush to help while the pump is running.
  8. While the pump is running, use a sponge and the citric acid and water solution to clean the openings of the plant columns and, if necessary, the exterior. Stubborn stains are best removed with the rough side of the sponge.
  9. Finally, wipe the columns with a clean sponge and clean water.
  10. Now turn off the pump, fill the water tank with 5 liters of fresh water and let the pump run again for 5 minutes to remove any remaining dirt inside.
  11. Now continue with your monthly care routine .
  12. Additionally, we recommend cleaning the underside of the base plate with a sponge and a citric acid-water solution.
  13. For hard-to-reach areas like the legs, you can also use bottle brushes.
  14. You can make cleaning the underside easier by placing the Everleaf Garden on towels on the floor.
  15. After you have washed the plant pots, you can start planting new plants.

We recommend the hard reset to clean even hard-to-reach areas that might be neglected during the soft reset. To ensure your plants continue to grow successfully for years to come, it's advisable to perform a thorough deep cleaning using hard resets about once a year. This will leave your Everleaf Garden looking brand new and completely free of pests, germs, and bacteria.

The hard reset

Duration: 1-2 hours | Intervals: Once a year

  1. Soak the empty plant pots in a water bath with dish soap or citric acid for the duration of the cleaning.
  2. Unplug the power adapter and place the top of the Everleaf Garden on a towel to access the water tank.
  3. Empty the water tank and clean it with citric acid mixed with water in a ratio of 1:2.
  4. Disassemble the columns as you assembled them and place them in the water bath. The LED strip can remain screwed to the base plate.
  5. Thoroughly clean the underside of the base plate, along with the cables and hoses, using a citric acid and water mixture. Use a bottle brush to reach all the nooks and crannies.
  6. Wipe the top of the base plate with a damp cloth. CAUTION: Avoid getting water into the control housing.
  7. Thoroughly wash all individual parts in a water bath. Use bottle brushes to reach even hard-to-reach corners.
  8. Let everything dry thoroughly and reassemble according to the assembly instructions. If you performed a hard reset after a severe pest infestation, wait 3-4 weeks before starting new plants to ensure the pests can't reproduce further.
  9. From this point on, you can start your Everleaf Garden again just like you did on day one. Have fun!

If you find the hard reset easier, you can safely skip the soft reset and instead perform a thorough hard reset every 3-6 months.
